Malta in September



Tips:

  • Stay in a cute apartment (airbnb) close and in the meantime far enough from Sliema center.
  • Take bus X2 from the airport to Sliema (only 2 euro)
  • Eat 'The Local' pizza @ The Oven
  • Take the siesta time serious.
  • Try Cisk beer in an authentic football bar.
  • Try the Sliema-Valletta ferry for 1,5 euros. It's woth it!
  • Eat fresh pastizzi in a cute maltese bar (cheese or pea around 0,40 euro each)
  • Eat lampuki and Malti Platti @ Scruples
  • Try 'Twistiees' and 'Kinnie'
  • Go to Mdina the 'Silent City' for a nice walk. Drink a cold local beer at Fontanella and enjoy the view.
  • Go to San Anton Gardens before dusk, eat at Melita Garden Restaurant and get lost in Lija.
  • Go to Tarxien Temples (check it was under construction in 2015 until further notice) and don't  miss the Hypogeum! (It is World Hertage site buy tickets online well in advance)
  • 8th of September is a public holiday, Museums are free!
  • Go to Gozo with the ferry from Cirkewwa. Ferries run every half an hour and you pay your ticket on the way back ( 2015 - 2 person + scooter 12,8 euro)
  • Get lost in the tiny streets of Valletta and don't miss the new City Gate/Parlament building and the Barakka Gardens. (check before you pay for the elevator because the  gate is usually open) 
  • Blue Grotto - arrive before 5 to be able to go visit the grotto by boat. (on raugh sea days the boats don't operate)
  • Blue Lagoon - Comino (minimum a half day program to visit the uninhabited island for an amazing swim)
  • Grand Master's Palace, Valletta
  • In Gozo go see the Azure Window and don't miss the Saltpans either.
  • Definately go to Mint Sparrow (lovely little design shop ran by a hungarian girl)
  • Rent a scooter at Spinola Bay (25 euro / day + 200 euro deposit) 
  • Bus tickets cost 2 euros and valid for 2 hours....REALLY :)
  • Visit Valletta Waterfront.
  • Eat at Scoglitti, Valletta and Piccolo Padre,Sliema ( Paccheretti with Maltese Sausage is delicious)
